The weather forecast was for a nice day and THIS time they got it right. We met at Rice Lake Harley-Davidson with a scheduled departure of 9:30. At the time of the pre-ride briefing there were 15 of us on 13 bikes. We left on time with Brian leading us down to Eau Claire, where we’d meet Rich and Leah at the agreed spot. We gassed up, chatted and “headed for the hills”. I won’t begin to try and remember or recite all the back roads we were on but the area in northern Buffalo County provides a good number of them and I think we rode them all. The scenery is terrific in the area and Brian and Rich did a great job of pre-riding and selecting a route that was WAY fun.
Somehow we found our way to Mondovi for lunch at Buzz’s Bar and Grill. We couldn’t believe how fast the service was for a group our size and the food was excellent. A worthy destination in its own right. After lunch we ran a few more roads in the area and found ourselves back in Mondovi for ice cream at a popular spot there.
On our way home we pulled off at a scenic overlook on Hwy 93 where we took our “mandatory” group shot then continued back to Eau Claire, where we said our so-longs and departed in small groups, in different directions.
There were some of the usual suspects, some semi-regular participants and some new faces as well. Everyone had a great time and we thank Brian and Rich for putting together a terrific day.
